Micro cars In films
Do you want to know more about Micro Cars in films, recently at the IsettaWorld Yahoo groups we read this information shared by members all around the world!

At a recent meet, ( the truly EXCELLENT NMCR in UK last week end..thanks
Terry , Jim et al ),
I was told George Segal starred in a film called QUILLER and - or
Memorandum with allegedly an Isetta, and/or Schmitt shown.
Any one knows of this please, and if it is true, and film reference
numbers so I can get a copy?

Hi Alan. I haven't heard of this film but if anyone is interested I do have
a spare copy of 'The Prize of Gold' with Richard Widmark and Mai Zetterling.
There is a KR175 in several scenes in this film. It is in U.S./Canadian
format not U.K. though. The quality is not very good but it is better than
none.

no Isettas or Schmitts apparent, but there does appear to be a Fiat 500 and
a Fiat 600

You may be able to rent a copy of "Is Paris Burning". Watch for Paul Arzen's electric egg on
the streets of Paris for 2-3 seconds in the opening titles.
This beautiful polished aluminum and plexiglass car was built in 1942 during the occupation
and probably influenced our post-war "bubble cars".

There's a pink Isetta which features strongly in the 1986 movie "
Absolute Beginners" , starring David Bowie . Still available on
Amazon .
There's a Heinkel which features strongly in the 1956 Movie " Blue
Murder at St Trinians " . starring George Cole . Still available on
Amazon .
There was also a movie "Romanoff and Juliet" ( 1961 ) featuring Sir
Peter Ustinov as the President of Concordia , a tiny European Country
too small to be on any maps , but nevertheless a member of NATO , who
has an Isetta as his State Vehicle . The movie was filmed in Italy .
Also , in the 1981 / 2 BBC TV series " The Chinese Detective "
starring David Yip , Episode 7 , " Trials ", ( First aired:
9/10/1982 ) Production Code: LDLE154J is the first day of a trial
at the Old Bailey and Det. Sgt. John Ho has to deal with a couple of
O.A.P's and gets involved in a car chase in a fleet of three-wheeled
cars and microcars .
Also , in USA , a TV Series featured a character called " Steve
Erkel" who had an Isetta as his daily transport .

In the 1984 Channel4 "comic strip" Drama "Mr Jolly lives next door" a Yellow heinkel was run off the road whilst Rick mayall and Adrian Edmondson were on there way to assassinate Nicholas Parsons!!!

I DON'T THINK A WEEK GOES BY WHEN I DON'T HEAR STEVE URKEL
MENTIONED WHEN PEOPLE SEE MY ISETTA . THE SHOW WAS CALLED
" FAMILY MATTERS " . I CAN'T STAND THE CHARACHTER ASSOCIATION
WITH Mr. URKEL BECAUSE HE WAS SUCH A DORKY CHRACHTER THAT IT
ONLY MAKES IT HARDER FOR PEOPLE WHO WATCHED THE SHOW TO TAKE
THE ISETTA SERIOUSLY .
I SAW ONE ISETTA AT A SHOW WITH A NEAR LIFESIZE URKEL DOLL
SITTING IN THE DRIVER SEAT . THEY MUST HAVE A BETTER SENCE OF
HUMOR THAN I DO . I JUST TELL PEOPLE THAT I WAS DRIVING ONE
BEFORE THERE WAS AN URKEL .
THE MOVIE FUNNY FACE WITH FRED ASTAIRE & KATHERINE HEPBURN
FEATURES SOME GREAT FOOTAGE WITH A VELAM ISETTA .
JAMES CAGNEY WAS IN A MOVIE CALLED ONE TWO THREE .
IT WAS FILMED IN BERLIN IN 1961 AND OFFERS MULTITUDES OF
BUBBLECARS IN THE TRAFFIC SCENES .

Has someone also mentioned the 1985 film 'Brazil' with Jonathan Pryce? His vehicle of choice in this unusual sci-fi flick is a Messerschmitt.

In I`m Alright Jack starring the much loved genius that was Peter Sellers,
Terry Thomas & the young Liz Fraser, I recall Ian Carmichael was shown
courting in his Heinkel and having also problems @ the Factory Gates with
the hostile Union Pickets.
It is still great to hear gap toothed TT say to Ian C " You are an
absolute shower" cheers alan T

My Isetta was used in a film called "El viaje hacia el mar" in Uruguay, you can see some photos of the filmation and the movie brochure below.
